Camel Thorn (kameeldoring)
This Acacia tree is native to and common in arid parts of southern Africa. It was originally known as "Acacia giraffae" and the Afrikaans talking people called it Kameeldoring, after the Afrikaans word for giraffe "kameelperd". The tree is also known by its Tswana name Mokala.
