Southern Africa Travel Guide

Route 62

Country: South Africa
Region: Karoo, Winelands
Dubbed the longest wine route in the world, Route 62 is a scenic alternative to the already quite pleasant N2 from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth (Garden Route). The actual R62 runs from Ashton/Robertson to Humansdorp. En route the landscape is dominated by vineyards, valleys and picturesque towns like Montagu with its thermal baths, mission post Zoar and Calitzdorp, where most of South Africa’s "Port" is produced. From Oudsthoorn, South Africa's ostrich capital you can connect to the N2 (George) again through the equally beautiful Outeniqua pass.

We really enjoyed the trip. The lodge was very pleasant and the children loved the animals right in front of our chalet! Thank you for organising it for us, we will definitely pay another to the lodge.
