Kruger National Park

”Kruger” is South Africa’s largest national park. It stretches for over 350 km (217 mi) and is about 60 kilometers wide (37 mi), with gates in Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces. It has no less than six eco-systems and over 500 species of birds. With about 11 thousand elephants, 27 thousand buffalos, 5 thousand rhinos, 1500 lions and a thousand leopards you know you are in Big 5 territory.The Kruger National Park is home to over 500 bird species -including nine species of kingfishers and six hornbills. Red- and yellowbilled oxpeckers can be seen on large game and weaver nests are a very common tree “decoration”.
